Valparaiso Celebrates Downtown's New Streetscape

 A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the newly installed and enhanced streetscape of Downtown Valparaiso's Focus Block #18. Focus Block #18 is located on Lincolnway across from the Courthouse between Franklin and Washington Street. The project was funded by the city's Redevelopment Commission and the city's share of the county economic development income tax. The enhanced streetscape constructed by Gariup Construction features new sidewalks, curbs and gutters, decorative brickwork at each end of the block, new tree planters with cast iron grates containing new trees, electrical, sound and water systems, attractive vintage style street lights and signal poles with illuminating street signs. President of the Valpo Chamber, Deb Butterfield, Chamber members, staff and ambassadors; downtown merchants; staff from the City of Valparaiso and Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission joined Mayor Jon Costas for the inaugural event. A reception was hosted after the ribbon cutting at Seasons on the Square, 1 Lincolnway.
