Eastport
Center (Valparaiso Industrial Park) is located on the southeast
side of Valparaiso and just sourth of U. S. Highway 30. Several
companies have decided to move to this location, including M.E.
Simpson Company, the United
Way of Porter County, Follett Books, J
& N Enterprises, and Machine Tool Specialists.
Future construction includes
Indiana Vocational
Technical College (Valparaiso campus).

Natural
Ovens Bakery is located on the southeast side of Valparaiso
and just north of Eastport Center (Valparaiso Industrial Park).
Open in late 2002, the bakery is still completing its expansion
plans. The familiar white dome can easily be seen from both the
49 Bypass and U.S. Highway 30. There is open land available north
of Natural Ovens between their development and State Road 2.

 For
several years, the Porter
County Exposition Center was the only business located south
of U.S. Highway 30 along the east side of the 49 Bypass. In 1999,
Pratt
Industries (aka Jett Corr 6) constructed their new facility
just north of the Expo Center. This is the larger building in the
foreground (left image). In 2000, the Porter County Board of Commissioners
decided to construct the new Porter County Jail and Sheriff's Department
just north of Pratt Industries.
Constructed in 1991,
Aldi's Warehouse
(right image) is located just west of the Porter
County Exposition Center. In 2002, they expanded their building,
adding several several hundred square feet of warehouse space.
U.S. Highway 30 east/west
exists are located approximately one (1) mile north of these four
(4) buildings.

There
has been a lot of commercial growth along U.S. Highway 30 on
the southeast side of Valparaiso in the past several years. Heading
east from the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Sturdy Road, one
can now find Staples,
Taco Bell, the Wal-Mart
complex, and Sears
Hardware. Restaurants include Strongbow Inn, Denny's, and Steak-N-Shake.
On the north side of
U.S. Highway 30, there are several hotels, including the Hampton
Inn, the Fairfield Inn, and the Courtyards by Marriott.

Menards
Superstore opened in Valparaiso in 2000. Located on the east
side of Valparaiso at the intersection of Silhavy Road (200 East)
and LaPorte Avenue, the store has since sold its former building
and is now located in a larger building just south of its former
location.
Valparaiso Marketplace
is located just west of Menards on the other side of Silhavy Road
(200 East). The complex contains several stores, including Kohl's,
Target,
the Home Depot,
and Pet Supplies. There are also several restaurants, including
Chili's, Pizza Hut, McDonald's and Panera
Breads.

Located
south of U.S. Highway 30 and east of the 49 Bypass and the city
of Valparaiso, the U.S. Highway 30 Industrial Park is home to several
industries, including Owens Corning, Hoosier Fire, Task Force Tips,
Union Electric Company, and Ozinga Brothers. There is easy access
available off of U.S. Highway 30 and is located within a short ride
from both downtown Valparaiso and the Porter County Municipal Airport.
The industrial park is
a large complex. There are still lots available, and the complex
has the ability to expand east across 325 East.

The
Porter County
Municipal Airport is located east of the 49 Bypass and the city
of Valparaiso and just north of U.S. Highway 30. The airport is
constantly expanding to serve the needs of the area, such as recently
installing a new north/south runway to allow larger aircraft to
take off and land. The new office building is expansive and offers
many amenities to visitors and pilots.
There are several businesses
at the airport, and many local citizens store their aircraft in
any one of the many hangers.
